Meeting Minutes

As a result of organizational changes enacted in February 2006, the Board of Directors now meets before monthly meetings. The minutes from these meetings are listed on the individual monthly meeting minutes pages prior to the minutes for the Monthly Membership Meetings. This is in keeping with the Organizational Policies set forth by the Board in February 2006:

• In accordance with our by-laws, the Board of Directors sets policy and direction for the Base and is responsible for all major decisions. Major proposals and policy matters will be discussed with and approved by the membership before implementing them. In effect, the Base is run by the Board.
• The Board concluded that the Base’s primary objective is that of a social organization.
• The participation of wives and friends has improved the quality of our meetings and should be encouraged.
• The focus and functioning of the Base deteriorated when the national organization was brought into our affairs. We exist primarily for our members.
• Our primary effort should be devoted to those things that interest and benefit our own membership.
• Recruiting members to assume positions and responsibilities is a problem and new approaches will be developed to involve more members.
• In order to better coordinate and direct the activities of the Base, a brief, business-like Board meeting will be held before each Base monthly meeting. A simple majority of the Board members shall constitute a quorum and its decisions shall be binding.
